In our curriculum we follow statutory guidelines.

EYFS

We follow the EYFS framework covering seven areas of learning and working towards the Early Learning Goals. The seven areas of learning are:

  • Communication and language
  • personal, social and emotional development
  • literacy
  • mathematics
  • understanding the world
  • expressive arts and design

We follow Letters and Sounds for the teaching of phonics on a daily basis, and use a range of reading schemes, the primary ones used for reading in school being Bug Club and Oxford Reading Tree.

Learning is delivered in an active play based curriculum, where all children are taught according to their needs.

KEY STAGE 1 (Years 1 and 2)

The Key Stage 1 curriculum covers English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Design and Technology, Art and Design, Religious Education, PSCHE (Personal, Social, Citizenship, Health Education), Physical Education, Music and Computing.

Daily phonics sessions are delivered using ‘Letters and Sounds’. Bug Club and Oxford Reading Tree continue to be the principal reading schemes.

We aim to deliver a creative curriculum, using ‘Topics’ to link learning in a meaningful context.

KEY STAGE 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6)

The Key Stage 2 curriculum covers English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Computing, Design and Technology, Art and Design, Religious Education, PSCHE (Personal, Social, Citizenship, Health Education), Physical Education, Music and Modern Foreign Languages (French).

Bug Club and Oxford Reading Tree continue to be the principal reading schemes, with class reads used to teach guided reading.

We continue to deliver a creative curriculum, giving learning a meaningful context.
